JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Junior Scientist at Caszyme, you will be performing a critical role in the development of cutting-edge gene editing tools, by producing, purifying and validating the activity of various enzymes. In addition to your laboratory responsibilities, you will also be involved in reporting to and collaborating with your team.
- Development of Gene Editing Tools: Participate in the discovery, characterization, optimization, and development of novel gene editing tools, driving the forefront of genetic research.
- Molecular Cloning: Design and perform both routine and custom molecular cloning and recombinant DNA production workflows.
- Protein production: Carry out laboratory-scale bacterial expression and purification of recombinant proteins.
- Testing Gene Editing Tools: Conduct critical experiments to validate the efficacy of gene editing tools in vitro.
- Reporting and Interactions: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, provide comprehensive reports, and foster effective communication within the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field is required, demonstrating your advanced knowledge in life sciences.
- Hands-On Experience: You should have hands-on experience in recombinant DNA technology (PCR, plasmid vector design and cloning), routine microbiology workflows (E. coli transformation & cultivation, protein expression), protein purification (liquid chromatography using ÄKTA™ systems), handling of RNA. Experience with in vitro protein-nucleic acid interaction biochemistry is preferred (DNA cleavage & binding assays).
