Job description

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Vilnius is seeking to recruit a Hospitality and Housekeeping Officer. We are seeking a trustworthy, well-organised and service-minded professional who will contribute to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, hospitality and presentation at both the Embassy offices and the Official Residence. The position is hands-on and requires a high degree of independence, flexibility and discretion.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Vilnius represents Norway’s interests in Lithuania and Belarus. The Embassy has offices in central Vilnius and an Official Residence used for representational purposes, official events and accommodation of guests. The Embassy is currently preparing to sell the present Residence and acquire a new one.
The position is primarily full-time, covering both the Embassy offices and the Residence. Applicants may also indicate whether they are interested in a 50% position limited to the Residence.

Duties and Responsibilities includes but are not limited to:

·Clean and maintain the Embassy offices and Residence.
·Independently plan and organise the daily housekeeping work and ensure a consistently high standard of cleanliness, order and presentation.
·Carry out laundry and care of household textiles and representational items.
·Prepare the Residence for guests, official visits and events.
·Organise receptions, lunches, dinners and other official events at the Residence, including coordinating catering, table setting, serving and cleaning up.
·Coordinate dry-cleaning, maintenance and other external service providers as required.
·Care for flowers, plants, furniture, household and representational items.
·Monitor and replenish household items and cleaning supplies within agreed limits.
·Identify and report maintenance needs, damage or other deficiencies.
·Carry out other relevant practical and hospitality-related duties as required by the Embassy’s operational needs, including tasks related to the transition from the current Residence to a new Residence.

For applicants interested in a 50% position, duties will be limited to the Official Residence.

Requirements

Required qualifications:
·Substantial relevant experience from housekeeping and hospitality, preferably from an embassy, diplomatic mission or official residence. Experience from high-level representational environments will be considered a strong advantage.
·Good practical knowledge of cleaning routines, hygiene standards and care of furniture, textiles and household equipment.
·Ability to work independently, plan and organize own work, and identify what needs to be done.
·Good communication skills in English and Lithuanian.
·Satisfactory criminal record certificate may be required.
Personal qualities:
·Trustworthy, discreet and respectful of confidentiality.
·Reliable, practical and well organised.
·Service-minded, flexible and solution-oriented.
·Attentive to detail and able to maintain high standards also during busy periods.
·Able to cooperate well with Embassy staff, guests and external service providers.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Vilnius offers:
·Good working conditions in an international and professional environment.
·Competitive salary and benefits package, including 25 days of annual leave, with membership in Södra as part of the employment terms.
·A full-time position, normally Monday to Friday, with flexible working hours. Normal working time averages 38 hours and 20 minutes per week. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required in connection with official events, by prior agreement. Extra hours will be compensated in accordance with Lithuanian law and the Embassy’s local employment terms.
·Alternatively, a 50% position at the Official Residence may be considered.
·On-the-job training and clear work instructions.
